In 2009, WakeMed implemented Infor Lawson to consolidate core financial operations across its health system. Infor Lawson, deployed as an ERP Financial solution, served as the central platform to standardize accounting, statutory reporting, and financial control across WakeMed’s multi-site hospitals and clinics, supporting the organization’s finance and treasury business functions.
Configuration efforts concentrated on core ERP Financial modules including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, consolidation, cost accounting, and financial reporting. The implementation emphasized chart of accounts harmonization, month-end close orchestration, and expense management workflows aligned with healthcare accounting practices.
Operational coverage extended to hospital finance, procurement-related finance workflows, corporate accounting, and entity consolidation, providing a single instance for transaction processing and financial reporting across the organization. Master data governance and vendor record controls were instituted to maintain consistent financial data across sites.
Governance and process restructuring established centralized financial workflow ownership, role based access controls, and standardized reconciliation and close procedures. The rollout approach used staged module activation and detailed process documentation to align site level finance teams with centralized accounting protocols.

In 2002, WakeMed implemented UKG Workforce Central (ex Kronos Workforce Central) as its Workforce Management platform. The implementation addressed enterprise scheduling and timekeeping across WakeMed's hospital and clinic operations, covering an employee base of about 12,000.
WakeMed deployed core modules including Shift Wizard and Kronos Administrator to operationalize unit-level schedule creation and centralized system configuration. Shift Wizard was used for roster building, shift swaps, shift bidding and automated schedule generation consistent with labor rules and staffing templates. Kronos Administrator provided role based configuration, time and attendance validation, exception management, and system administration for pay codes, schedules and rules.
Operational governance centralized scheduling policies for clinical departments, nursing units and support services, with Kronos Administrator used to manage security, workforce policies and configuration changes. The deployment positioned UKG Workforce Central (ex Kronos Workforce Central) to support scheduling, time capture and administrative control across WakeMed’s sites while maintaining centralized configuration through the Administrator module.

In 2023, WakeMed implemented Siemens Syngo Via for Medical Imaging, consolidating multiple advanced-visualization solutions onto a syngo.via subscription to centralize radiology advanced-visualization capabilities. The deployment targeted radiology and advanced visualization across WakeMed facilities in the United States, aligning licensing and operational ownership under a subscription model to standardize tooling for clinical read and post-processing workflows.
The implementation leveraged syngo.via advanced visualization capabilities, including multi-modality viewing, CT trauma post-processing, automated measurements, and workflow orchestration to streamline reading queues. Siemens Syngo Via was configured to support automated CT trauma workflows and to reduce manual post-processing steps, enabling technicians and radiologists to follow consistent processing pipelines.
WakeMed integrated AI-Rad Companion with Siemens Syngo Via to automate CT trauma workflows, embedding AI-assisted detection and pre-processing into the visualization pipeline. Operational coverage focused on radiology departments and advanced-visualization use cases, and the integration enabled faster turnaround and increased scanner throughput while improving incidental-finding detection during routine reads.
Governance and rollout emphasized subscription consolidation and workflow standardization across radiology, with syngo.via acting as the centralized advanced-visualization platform. The program delivered explicit operational outcomes, reducing advanced-visualization solution costs by approximately 40 percent and cutting post-processing times from about 8 to 10 minutes down to roughly 3 to 4 minutes, which supported faster report turnaround and higher scanner utilization.
