Oracle Legacy Oracle NetSuite ERP ERP Financial ERP n/a 2016 2016
In 2016, Western & Southern implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as an ERP Financial solution to serve core finance and accounting functions. The engagement ran from January 2016 to August 2019 and focused on transactional finance modules including invoices, vendor bills, customer and vendor credits, and reporting data sourced from a file cabinet integration. Oracle NetSuite ERP was positioned to centralize accounting records and to provide a financial backbone for accounts payable, accounts receivable and reporting teams. The project centered on integration-led architecture using MuleSoft middleware to orchestrate data flows and API methods. Developed interfaces delivered JSON based RESTful services and proxy APIs with OAuth, alongside HTTPS endpoints protected with IP whitelisting and CORS policies. Integrations included pipe delimited flat file ingestion from SFTP with transformation into underlying REST services, SOAP service retrieval for upstream systems, and scheduled update jobs to keep NetSuite transactional tables synchronized. Deployment and runtime used Mule ESB versions 3.6, 3.8 and 3.9 with Anypoint Studio and Anypoint Platform for deployment, Jenkins and GIT for CI CD, and Postman and Soap UI for testing. Connectors and runtime components explicitly included a DB connector for MySQL with connection pooling, SFTP connector for file transfers and NetSuite calls, ActiveMQ via JMS for messaging, HTTP connector, API toolkit router, content based router, foreach, retry logic, secure properties and logger components. MUnits were developed for all flows and a common error handling framework was implemented to standardize exception management across integrations. Project governance emphasized full SDLC participation from analysis through deployment, with responsibilities for API design and implementation, integration testing and documentation. API management practices were applied including published documentation and proxy based APIs consumed by upstream systems, and the team implemented integration patterns and reusable components to support finance operations. The implementation narrative reflects Western & Southern Oracle NetSuite ERP ERP Financial integration work with middleware design, secure API exposure and structured testing and deployment processes.
