| SAP | Legacy | SAP BW (Business Warehouse) | Data Warehouse | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2012 | 2013 |
In 2012, Yancoal reimplemented SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as a central reporting layer to support Management and Group Internal Reporting. The SAP BW implementation served the Data Warehouse role for Financial and Management Reporting and complemented broader SAP deployments to support mining operations and statutory reporting.
The scope included reimplementation of SAP BW and SAP BPC to support Group consolidation for external statutory reporting. Functional workstreams focused on reimplementation of master and transactional data to enable MRRT reporting calculations, and establishment of a standard costing methodology, activity rate calculation and production reporting as part of Standardisation of Policies, Processes and Systems Phase 1. Accounting adjustments required for IFRIC 20 stripping costs in the production phase were incorporated into financial reporting rules and data logic.
Architecturally, SAP BW (Business Warehouse) was positioned as the enterprise Data Warehouse feeding SAP BPC for consolidation and aggregating transactional data from operational SAP modules to produce management and group internal reports. The implementation emphasized BW data model redesign, extraction and transformation of master and transactional datasets for tax and management calculations, and configuration of reporting layers to support both operational and statutory reporting consumers.
Governance and process transformation accompanied the technical deployment, with redefined master data controls, standard operating procedures for costing and activity rates, and targeted reporting controls for MRRT calculations and IFRIC 20 accounting treatment. System and process changes were aligned to support Finance and Management reporting functions and the consolidation workflow, embedding updated policies into the reporting architecture.
