Automation plays a central role, with scripted installation and environment provisioning, automated start and stop sequences for short high capacity windows such as year end processing, and single sign on for users across SAP modules to simplify access and reduce password overhead.
The deployment leverages Azure platform services including Azure NetApp Files storage, Azure Stack, application gateways, and Windows Server, with SAP instances integrated into centralized backup and monitoring processes. ZEISS IT describes the systems as a single source of truth, built to be easy to operate and scale, and managed by the internal SAP Cloud Data Center team to ensure lifecycle updates are applied continuously with minimal user disruption.
Operational governance included an environment cleanup prior to relocation and a focus on automating recurring tasks to reduce manual IT effort during rollout. Reported outcomes from the initiative include improved scalability, faster provisioning of compute and storage resources, greater automation of maintenance and test environment workflows, and positive user feedback on access and responsiveness of SAP HCM (HR).
