In 2013, Zurich Ireland implemented IBM Life/400 as its Insurance ERP backend for fund and unit administration, and engaged TEKenable to extend that platform with a bespoke trading and pricing application. The engagement focused on enabling larger scale blended fund trading by embedding a trading and pricing layer that operated alongside IBM Life/400.
The implementation delivered a bespoke trading engine and pricing module tightly coupled to fund administration interfaces, with inferred use of fund and unit administration interfaces to IBM Life/400. IBM Life/400 was used as the persistent administration ledger, while the TEKenable-built application provided pricing calculations, trade orchestration, and operational workflows required for blended fund execution.
Integration work centered on connecting the new trading and pricing platform to the Life400 AS/400 environment, preserving administration data flows and transaction integrity between the trading layer and IBM Life/400. Operational coverage was explicitly limited to finance and fund trading operations in Ireland, with the solution operating as a backend trading pathway that referenced fund records and unit holdings in IBM Life/400.
TEKenable led the delivery and integration across the AS/400 environment and the bespoke trading application, with rollout and governance focused on fund trading operations and finance teams in Ireland. The initiative delivered reduced IT costs and increased trading capacity as reported in the case study, while maintaining IBM Life/400 as the core Insurance ERP for fund and unit administration.
