Hydrock | Professional Services | 900 | $87M | United Kingdom | Autodesk | Autodesk Microdrainage | 3D Modeling | 2019 | n/a | In 2019 Hydrock implemented Autodesk Microdrainage. The Autodesk Microdrainage implementation supported Hydrock's 3D Modeling work within the Civil Engineering team in Bristol, United Kingdom, and was used alongside AutoCAD for preparation of technical drawings and construction-level documentation. The deployment focused on drainage strategies, external works and detail drawings, with engineers applying British Standards in drainage design and using the software to assess the impact of rainfall on new developments. Staff training and day to day use centered on computer aided design workflows and the production of drainage design deliverables. Functionally the implementation emphasized drainage modelling and SuDS scheme assessment, sizing of attenuation tanks, design of soakaways and specification of flow control devices, and generation of drainage detail drawings. Operational scope covered civil engineering design workflows and the review of geotechnical report inputs to inform soakaway and storage tank parameters. Governance and process change concentrated on embedding Autodesk Microdrainage into standard CAD drafting and drainage calculation procedures, enabling Hydrock engineers to optimize the performance and effectiveness of drainage design. The implementation established a repeatable technical workflow for external works and drainage strategies within the Civil Engineering team. | |

Jacobs UK | Professional Services | 10000 | $1.1B | United Kingdom | Autodesk | Autodesk Microdrainage | 3D Modeling | 2023 | n/a | In 2023, Jacobs UK deployed Autodesk Microdrainage to model SuDS flows and to design a sustainable, flood resistant amphitheater solution at The Knowle in Sidmouth. Autodesk Microdrainage was the primary hydrologic and hydraulic modeling application used to quantify runoff from Station Road, inform storage sizing and define flow control strategies within the project scope. Autodesk Microdrainage produced a 1D model representing flows along the swale and into the flood storage area, and this was augmented by a 2D Network and Flood Flow model to map overland flow routes and to simulate blockage scenarios at the flow control chamber. The team supplemented those models with mathematical sub surface flow calculations and greenfield runoff estimates, and modeled SuDS elements such as check dams, vegetated swales, drainage blankets and a layered geo cellular crate storage system that preserves 95% void for water storage. The Microdrainage outputs were integrated into a 3D Modeling workflow alongside Autodesk Civil 3D and InfraWorks to resolve alignment and level issues around multiple shallow utilities and trees subject to Preservation Orders, and a high quality 3ds Max visualization was produced for community engagement and council sign off. The program also worked with Innovyze applications for broader hydrology and flood assessment tasks, creating an interoperable pipeline from detailed H H modelling to civil design and stakeholder facing visualization. Governance and delivery emphasized a tight timeframe, iterative modeling with landscape architects and civil engineers, and explicit consideration of site constraints including shallow foundations and preservation orders. Documented outcomes from the implementation include an underground storage capacity of approximately 150,000 gallons 700 cubic meters, subsurface storage sized for a one in 30 year storm event, aboveground amphitheater seating able to hold up to half a meter of water during a one in 100 year storm event, and an estimated avoidance of around £10 million in flood damage and recovery costs. |
