In 2022, Minneapolis Glass implemented A+W Production. A+W Production, an Advanced Planning and Scheduling application, was deployed to formalize production scheduling and shop floor orchestration across the company’s Brooklyn Park manufacturing site and its broader distribution footprint.
The implementation centered on production scheduling, finite capacity planning, schedule visualization and order sequencing, combined with work order management and shop floor dispatching to coordinate glass fabrication processes. Configuration emphasized optimization capabilities consistent with Advanced Planning and Scheduling systems, aligning schedule windows to fabrication steps such as CNC cutting, edging, backpainting, UV bonding, glazing and installation.
A+W Production was integrated with Minneapolis Glass’s existing A+W suite, including A+W Business for order and commercial data, A+W Capacity Planner for capacity modeling, A+W Barcode Manager for label scanning and shop floor tracking, and A+W CAD Designer and the CNC CAD Driver for automated toolpath handoff to CNC operators. Operational coverage included the factory floor CNC operations and fabrication cells, as well as planning workflows that feed regional delivery within a 150 mile radius and distribution across the United States.
Governance and rollout were led by company leadership with IT direction from the Director of Information Technology, and operator adoption was a deliberate focus to shift manual entry into automated scheduling and CNC driver handoffs. Minneapolis Glass reports that the A+W Production deployment, combined with related A+W modules, supported the company’s engineering and production efficiency objectives, contributed to sustained process innovations and improvements in manufacturing quality that the company has publicly associated with its operational strategy.
