Liquor Control Board of Ontario | Retail | 11000 | $5.5B | Canada | Bell | Bell Cloud Connect | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2016 | n/a |
In 2016, Liquor Control Board of Ontario deployed Bell Cloud Connect for Application Hosting and Computing Services to enable cloud connectivity and migration planning across retail operations and corporate IT. The engagement focused on enabling enterprise access to application workloads, virtualizing retail PoS and store server components, and preparing Head Office network and datacenter infrastructure for cloud-onboarding and colocation at the Guelph data centre.
The implementation included detailed solution design and configuration work for virtualization and consolidation, including P2V conversions of bare metal servers, consolidation and virtualization of network infrastructure, and mapping of application workloads to target infrastructure. Design artifacts and test plans were created to codify application to infrastructure mappings, current, interim and final state configurations, and pre migration remediation tasks. Workshops with application, development and delivery teams documented functional requirements and validated configuration choices for PoS virtualization and store peripheral support.
Connectivity design and deployments were central to the Bell Cloud Connect implementation, with a detailed design for Azure ExpressRoute connectivity via Bell Cloud Connect to provide private enterprise access to cloud hosted workloads. The project worked directly with telecom and data centre providers to deploy infrastructure into a colocation arrangement at the MGCS Guelph Data Centre, and delivered physical build activities including racking, cabling and testing. Network infrastructure installed and commissioned included Cisco ACI fabric and APIC controllers, NX OS WAN and internet edge switches, NX OS management switches, Raritan VM and console infrastructure, and NetScout InfiniStream and packet flow appliances, alongside documented IP addressing and environment scaling plans.
Governance and delivery control included participation in RFP and RFSQ processes, statement of work verification, and bi weekly Architecture and Technical Review Board presentations to secure executive and delivery group acceptance. Information Security requirements were reviewed and incorporated into solution elements to align with internal policies.
Operational scope spanned retail stores, logistics connectivity for outsourcing to a 3PL vendor, Head Office LAN and WAN redesign, and enterprise application migration workflows to cloud and SaaS where applicable. Bell Cloud Connect was positioned as the connectivity layer within the Application Hosting and Computing Services implementation to support these retail and corporate business functions.

Metrolinx | Transportation | 6027 | $333M | Canada | Bell | Bell Cloud Connect | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018 Metrolinx implemented Bell Cloud Connect as part of its Application Hosting and Computing Services architecture to provide resilient private cloud and hybrid connectivity across transit IT environments. Bell Cloud Connect was used to orchestrate redundant connectivity including Azure ExpressRoute and VPN redundancy with automatic fail over and fallback, supporting critical transport workloads and connectivity to hosted applications.
The deployment architecture emphasized dual Internet service provider edge routing and active fail over and fallback while preserving the same public IP address for inbound and outbound traffic. Network engineering delivered layer 2 extension between data centers to enable a lift and move data center migration, and built a tier 4 data center network in Guelph alongside core switch redesigns at Union station and Oakville GTCC data center networking.
Implemented functional capabilities included firewall replacement in the GDC, a multi tier firewall DMZ design, and a compliance network scoped for PCI DSS 2.0 to support fare system transactions. Network provisioning work enabled Fare System Technology Enablement for Presto devices at GO stations and on buses, GO Presto network connection redundancy with automatic fail over and fallback, a high availability LTE cellular network on GO buses, and an MPLS redesign to add LTE links for resiliency.
Systems integration covered converged IT OT gateway integration with the Metrolinx GO Transit Train Control System and migration of Presto wireless TVMs to the Metrolinx network, supported by a published 3rd party B2B VPN configuration guideline. Operational coverage spanned network operations, fare collection technology, core station infrastructure, and data center operations across Metrolinx sites.
Governance and rollout included documented configuration guidelines and compliance network designs, with a senior network solution engineer and architect engaged from November 2018 through January 2022 to design and deliver the program. Project delivery statements indicate the involved projects were delivered on time, and the program emphasized documented operational standards for B2B VPNs, QoS for enterprise VoIP, and multi site network resiliency.
