In 2007, Bloombase implemented Bloombase StoreSafe at a large Tokyo Stock Exchange listed bank to encrypt primary production and disaster recovery storage across Tokyo and Osaka, to meet Japan's PIPA and Financial Services Agency guidelines. The implementation leveraged capabilities aligned with the Data Loss Prevention,Next Generation Firewall category and included the Bloombase KeyCastle module for centralized key management and encryption orchestration.
Bloombase StoreSafe was configured for transparent file and block level encryption on primary storage at the Tokyo site and on replicated storage at the Osaka disaster recovery site. KeyCastle was deployed alongside StoreSafe to provide centralized key lifecycle management and was configured in a high availability clustering topology to support failover and maintain encryption controls during DR operations.
Operational coverage centered on enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery environments, securing backup and DR data so it remained inaccessible to third party operators. Governance and process changes reinforced encryption enforcement in storage and backup workflows and required coordination between storage administrators and compliance teams to satisfy PIPA and Financial Services Agency guidance.
