In 2019, Associated British Ports implemented Cority Greenstone Environment to centralize environmental reporting under the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) category. The deployment targeted data capture and reporting across ABP’s 21 ports, addressing data availability and accuracy to enable granular aggregation for external stakeholder reporting.
ABP migrated all historic environmental records into the Environment module, added new datasets, and configured calculation and analysis workflows to collect, calculate, analyse and report consumption and emissions data. The implementation included the Initiatives Savings Module ISM to compare environmental initiatives alongside operational data, enabling the tracking, monitoring and reporting of consumption, carbon and financial savings against initiatives implemented across ABP.
Operationally the program moved regional, finance focused Excel spreadsheets into a centralized application environment, standardizing data capture and enabling port level rollup for company wide analysis. The Cority Greenstone Environment configuration was applied across the full estate of 21 ports, supporting environmental and sustainability teams with consolidated consumption and emissions datasets.
Greenstone acted as the implementation and consultancy partner to migrate historic data and to deliver a CSR consultancy project that defined CSR reporting scope, metrics and KPIs. In 2017, Royal Mail implemented Cority Greenstone Environment to centralize its environmental data collection and reporting. The Cority Greenstone Environment application, classified as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), was deployed to calculate, manage and report consumption and emissions data across approximately 1600 sites in the UK and its international arm GLS, with particular emphasis on fleet and transport emissions measurement.
Greenstone migrated all historic environmental data into the Environment module and configured the module to support automated calculation workflows, data modelling and gap filling. The solution uses a modelling function that applies averages, prior year values or normalised intensity factors to populate missing electricity, water and waste data, with placeholders replaced as actual site data is ingested, enabling robust emissions calculation and inventory consolidation.
Operational implementation included structured user access and data transfer methods to reflect Royal Mail’s complex subsidiary and site topology. User permissions were created to provide managers with restricted, simplified views or group level access to multiple sites and data sources, and the platform centralized consumption, emissions and waste reporting for the environment team across the organisation.
Governance and process change shifted the environment team away from spreadsheet based collection toward in depth reporting and analysis using Cority Greenstone Environment. The captured data is used in Royal Mail’s annual Corporate Responsibility report, and contributed to explicit results documented by the company, including meeting the 2020-21 absolute carbon reduction target four years early, diverting 99 per cent of waste from landfill, and achieving a CDP score of A- in 2018.
