Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd owns and operates 21 ports in the United Kingdom, managing around 25 percent of the UK's sea-borne trade. The company's activities cover transport, haulage and terminal operations, ship's agency, dredging, and marine consultancy.
Scope and Challenges
Embarking on a major SAP rollout project, Associated British Ports required more agile systems to keep up with the project's time frame. As the company moved towards monthly releases they required faster, more flexible, and automated processes to achieve this goal.
Outcome and Implications
The company's digital transformation started in 2015 when they decided to upgrade their existing ERP solution (SAP ECC 6.0) to SAP S/4 HANA with a goal to revamp its operations and improve efficiency. Earlier, in 2014, Associated British Ports decided to transform its HR digital process for all of its 2200 employees by dropping the legacy Northgate HR system for a state of the art HCM system from SAP SuccessFactors, which was one of the largest SAP implementations in the UK for 2015.
In 2017, Associated British Ports deepen its relationship with SAP by adopting its Customer experience solutions such as SAP Cloud for Customer across three core C4C functionalities (Sales, Marketing and Service).
