Autostrade per l'Italia Transportation 7000 $5.2B Italy IBM IBM Cloud Pak for Data Data Warehouse 2019 n/a In 2019, Autostrade per l'Italia implemented IBM Cloud Pak for Data to underpin a centralized data platform supporting infrastructure and asset management. The IBM Cloud Pak for Data deployment addressed Data Warehouse requirements for integrating sensor and asset information and was designed jointly by IBM Consulting and MOVYON. The solution architecture centers on IBM-supported Maximo solutions, including the Maximo for Civil Infrastructure extension, combined with Internet of Things sensors and AI-assisted analytics. Maximo for Civil Infrastructure was configured to monitor, manage and maintain infrastructure assets, support failure prediction and prioritize repair workflows, while AI capabilities enhanced anomaly detection and decision support. Operational integration was delivered through the Argo platform, which uses IBM Cloud Pak for Integration together with IBM Cloud Pak for Data to ingest and normalize IoT infrastructure data for consumption by the Maximo solutions. Fincantineri NexTech Spa installed the IoT sensors and provided 3D digital modeling of assets, creating telemetry and model feeds into the Cloud Pak for Data environment for use by maintenance teams. As a foundational governance step the IBM and MOVYON teams introduced a data governance framework with control and monitoring mechanisms to improve data management and quality, providing visibility and fast access to asset information and the company document archive. A single dashboard now provides an integrated view of activities and data and delivers real time access to the digital archive for technicians in the field.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University Education 280 $30M Hong Kong IBM IBM Cloud Pak for Data Data Warehouse 2020 n/a In September 2020, Hong Kong Shue Yan University launched three laboratories and deployed IBM Cloud Pak for Data as a Data Warehouse solution to support teaching and research. The deployment targeted a new Big Data Laboratory within the research building, and the initial operational scope emphasized instruction and faculty research across the Department of Applied Data Science, the Department of Business Administration, and the Department of Economics and Finance. The IBM Cloud Pak for Data platform was provisioned on the universitys on premises private cloud and configured to expose multiple microservices and analytic components for classroom use. Key functional capabilities implemented include IBM Watson Discovery for unstructured news analysis and AutoAI within IBM Watson Studio to automate data preprocessing, model selection, and visual model evaluation, enabling low or no code methods for nontechnical users. Integrations and proof of concept work were conducted through an IBM Client Engineering workshop that produced a two week minimum viable product of Watson Discovery using university selected data sources. The platform integration emphasizes a single user friendly interface that guides students and faculty through data ingestion, visualization, model building, and report generation, and the environment supports planned connections to IoT devices for future courses. Governance and rollout followed an academic centric approach, with workshop led onboarding for professors and staff, short lab based classes that combine demos with hands on practice, and staged adoption across departments. The implementation explicitly supports pedagogical aims, with professors using the platform to teach Python and data analysis workflows and the university planning to embed the platform into curriculum such as a Bachelor of Science in Applied Data Science program launching in 2022. As of January 2022, about 100 students are using IBM Cloud Pak for Data in the Big Data Laboratory, and university workshops expanded attendance from around 20 to nearly 50 staff members as adoption grew. The deployment positions Hong Kong Shue Yan University to scale data analytics and machine learning pedagogy across teaching and research while retaining on premises control of its Data Warehouse platform.
Navarre Government 25000 $5.9B Spain IBM IBM Cloud Pak for Data Data Warehouse 2020 n/a In 2020 the Government of Navarra implemented IBM Cloud Pak for Data as a Data Warehouse solution to consolidate disparate data sources into a single enterprise data space. The deployment addressed a cross-government need to manage data more efficiently and securely, positioning the platform to support analytics and AI initiatives across public services. Telefónica Tech created and deployed a DataHub on IBM Cloud Pak for Data that serves as the central data governance and cataloging layer. The DataHub implementation centralized metadata, enabled unified data discovery and provisioning workflows, and organized Big Data technologies to supply curated datasets for downstream analytical and artificial intelligence applications. IBM Cloud Pak for Data was configured to operate as the government wide Data Warehouse, providing managed access and governed data flows to analytical consumers. The architecture emphasized a single logical data space, with the DataHub mediating governance, cataloging, and dataset provisioning for analytics teams and AI projects across the Government of Navarra. Governance and process changes were explicit, the DataHub became the key component for data governance and facilitated the development of analytical and artificial intelligence applications based on Big Data technologies. Telefónica Tech led the build and rollout, while IBM Cloud Pak for Data provided the platform capabilities used to centralize data management and enable governed analytics.
