A scenario based S&OP process was configured to allow GMH to evaluate and compare multiple forecast and planning scenarios against KPIs and strategic planning targets, creating a clear transition into detailed operational scheduling. Functional modules implemented include Demand Manager and Sales and Operations Planning, which together enable KPI driven decision making across planning levels. The system supports production mix optimization by aligning line capabilities and production orders through scenario comparison and planning orchestration. This integration enables supply chain and quality managers to manage operations through an integrated Manufacturing ERP platform, allowing quick schedule adjustments and coordinated execution of production plans. Project governance was run by a joint project team of Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann and PSI Software AG experts using an agile approach and a phased release strategy. Wherever possible go lives ran in parallel with existing systems to enable comprehensive testing and validation before each stage became operational, and the Virtual Factory simulations supported iterative validation during the rollout. The outcome recorded in the initial phase is a successful first go live of PSImetals with the program continuing through six additional planned go lives, demonstrating a structured program approach to extend the Manufacturing ERP footprint across HKM operations. | |

PSI positions PSImetals to operate on-premises or in the cloud, providing deployment flexibility for MES, process control, and enterprise orchestration, and the software suite is explicitly scoped to support production management, predictive quality control, and logistics orchestration within the new mill. Governance is centered on a template approach and standardized processes, with testable process definitions and reuse as core requirements to harmonize SSABs production management landscape. The implementation will impact production platform teams, fossil-free business platforms, quality, operations and logistics functions as those groups transition to automated, data driven workflows. The program is staged to align with the Luleå startup timetable and to produce a repeatable PSImetals template for broader rollout within SSAB. |
