In 2021, CONMED Corporation implemented PTC Arbortext Suite as a core component of its Document Management strategy to consolidate global technical documentation and labeling workflows. The Arbortext deployment was undertaken to complement the existing PTC Windchill foundation and enable component content authoring and automated publishing across CONMED’s QA and labeling functions.
The implementation configured PTC Arbortext Suite for structured authoring, topic reusability, and automated publishing pipelines, integrated with Windchill SIM to manage service information and regulatory artifacts. Oberon Technologies served as the system integrator, extending Windchill for SIM and deploying Arbortext content workflows alongside an out of the box Titania eIFU Delivery site to accelerate eIFU publishing and web delivery.
Integrations were explicit between PTC Arbortext Suite, Windchill PLM and Windchill SIM, and the Titania eIFU Delivery portal to provide end to end content lifecycle control from authoring through translation and online delivery. Operational coverage focused on CONMED’s global QA Team, the labeling team, and the eIFU delivery channel, ensuring content is available by product and region while adhering to CONMED brand standards and EUMDR regulatory requirements.
Governance and rollout followed a staged, stakeholder driven approach, engaging IT, Quality and R&D and leveraging established stakeholder committees to guide scope and adoption. Change management emphasized shared processes and common systems to replace manual handoffs, enable collaborative authoring, and allow QA to administer the solution without increasing administrative headcount.
The new PTC Arbortext Suite Document Management solution delivered a working eIFU site within weeks and enabled operational improvements that include 5 minute updates versus prior update cycles of one hour or more, and a content solution on target to achieve at least a 20% reduction in translation costs. The architecture preserves scalability for future automation and faster integration of acquisitions while maintaining regulatory compliance and improved global content collaboration.
