Neovia Logistics India Distribution 500 $65M India SAP SAP MaxDB Database Management 2008 Ibm
In 2008 Neovia Logistics India implemented SAP MaxDB as its Database Management platform, establishing a formal DBMS footprint to support distribution operations. The deployment coincided with a datacenter consolidation into Neovia's own facility hosted at IBM's Boulder facility, aligning SAP MaxDB with the companys central infrastructure and operations team. SAP MaxDB was provisioned to handle core database engine responsibilities typical of Database Management deployments, including storage management, routine backup and recovery processes, and continuous operational monitoring. Configuration and runbook creation were organized under a centralized Database Operations function, with the Database Operations Manager leading platform administration and cross training for MaxDB operations. The implementation operated within a heterogeneous database landscape, and the program included migration of over 100 DB2 and Oracle databases into the new datacenter environment, while also recognizing ongoing SQL Server administration across teams. IBM was engaged as the datacenter host, and operational coverage was extended with a 24/7 support model based in the Bangalore office, enabling continuous incident response and oncall database management. Governance and rollout were executed through Neovia's Data Resource Management team, which led migration planning, platform standardization, and skills transfer across DB2, Oracle, MaxDB and SQL Server technologies. The program emphasized operationalization, with structured shift coverage and cross training rather than measurable outcome claims, preserving focus on stable Database Management operations for the business.
WERZALIT Manufacturing 440 $62M Germany SAP SAP MaxDB Database Management 2005 All for One Group
In 2005, Werzalit implemented SAP MaxDB as its Database Management solution and engaged All for One Group for the implementation. The MaxDB deployment formed the persistent database layer underpinning a broader SAP rollout that replaced VAX-Profi and targeted core ERP business functions. Stage 1 delivered FI, AA, CO, MM, PP, SD and QM in Germany, and included variant configuration using IS-MILL to manage complex product variants, together with complex pricing and delivery scheduling capabilities. The implementation also integrated scanner connections for shop floor and logistics data capture, aligning Master Data, transactional posting and variant logic within the SAP application stack. The technical architecture deployed SAP on IBM UNIX servers with SAP MaxDB as the database engine, sized to support 128 SAP users across production and administrative roles. Production go live for the German landscape occurred on May 25, 2009, with Stage 2 rollouts to the USA and Romania starting mid 2009, and scheduling for the Romanian plant operated centrally from Oberstenfeld. Operational coverage spanned manufacturing, procurement, sales, quality and controlling across sites in Germany, the USA and Romania, providing Werzalit SAP MaxDB Database Management support for FI, manufacturing execution, materials management and sales order processes. All for One Group retained implementation responsibility while the integrated solution established standardized business processes and standardized controlling across national borders to support further growth.
