Baptist Health Healthcare 11000 $2.8B United States Epic Systems EpicCare Link Electronic Health Record 2023 n/a In 2023, Baptist Health implemented EpicCare Link, an Electronic Health Record application to provide external access to clinical records at no fee in line with its mission to promote coordination of care. EpicCare Link is delivered as a browser based access path that supports PC and Macintosh clients using the current edition of Chrome, requires a high speed or DSL internet connection, and leverages the Baptist Health MyApps portal and Citrix Receiver when viewing scanned documents and radiology images. The EpicCare Link deployment exposes core patient facing EHR capabilities including diagnostic results, clinical reports, insurance and billing information, physician notes, order entry for outpatient tests, and referral submission. EpicCare Link requires patient search by name, date of birth and gender, and users must select a reason for access, with the system automatically adding the patient to a Patient List for 10 days, reflecting standard external clinician workflows for viewing and limited order entry. Operational governance is structured around a site administrator model with up to two site administrators per location, the site administrator establishing the site via https://www.baptist-health.com/epiccare-link/ and managing user provisioning and routine verification of continued need. Users select one of four roles, Provider, APN/PA Advanced Practice, View and Ordering non-provider, View Only non-provider, or Referral Specialist non-provider, and APN or PA requests require a faxed Collaborative Agreement or PA Protocol prior to activation. After initial setup, user communication and co-signing workflows route through the EpicCare Link In Basket and Baptist Health provides account support and password resets through the IT Helpdesk at 501.202.2100. Access control and security are enforced through unique user credentials, mandatory acceptance of Terms and Conditions, industry standard encryption, and continuous activity auditing by Baptist Health and third party auditing software, with accounts requiring a login at least once every 90 days to remain active. The deployment explicitly does not support personal devices, requires installation of Citrix Receiver on each device used to view scanned documents and radiology images, and restricts access to treatment, payment, or healthcare operations consistent with privacy and security policies where impermissible use may result in loss of access or legal penalties.
