Alabama Department of Revenue Banking and Financial Services 350 $35M United States Exela Technologies Exela Order-to-Cash Order Management 2000 n/a In 2000 Alabama Department of Revenue implemented Exela Order-to-Cash as an Order Management solution to automate remittance and tax-return processing for state tax receivables. The deployment targeted the department finance and receivables functions, centralizing lockbox intake, remittance posting and deposit workflows under a single operational model. Exela Order-to-Cash delivered end-to-end remittance processing including automated envelope opening, high-volume image capture, data keying, fraud detection and web-based remittance reporting. Configuration emphasized image-based posting, exception handling and automated cash application capabilities consistent with Order Management and order to cash operational patterns. The implementation integrated automated capture hardware and image processing with web reporting interfaces to support deposit reconciliation and remittance visibility across the department. Operational coverage included lockbox operations, tax-return processing streams and centralized receivables reporting, aligning processing sequences from intake through deposit reporting. Rollout began in 2000 and included process restructuring to move manual mailroom and key entry tasks into automated capture and rules-based exception workflows, with governance focused on fraud detection thresholds and exception resolution. The program standardized remittance workflows and instituted centralized reporting to support daily deposit cycles. Outcomes documented in the engagement included a reduction in processing turnaround from more than 14 days to 24 to 48 hours, faster deposit cycles, measurable cost savings and headcount reductions as part of the finance receivables transformation.
