In 2001 Uniplast Knauer implemented SAP R/3 as an ERP Financial application. All for One Group led the project using a staged rollout model and the SAP R/3 instance was operated on an IBM AS/400 infrastructure running DB2 for OS/400, supporting roughly 50 concurrent users at the Dettingen Erms site.
Stage 1 delivered core financial and HR capabilities, with FI, AA, CO and HR starting in September 2001 and going productive in January 2002. Stage 2 expanded scope to MM, SD and LVS with a dedicated interface to an external Hochregallager, work beginning in March 2002 and production use commencing in November 2002. Stage 3 introduced PP for production planning, starting February 2003 and reaching productive status in June 2003.
The deployment integrated core finance and controlling functions with materials management, sales distribution and warehouse operations, aligning ERP Financial data flows across finance, HR, logistics and shop floor planning. A specific integration to an external Hochregallager was implemented to synchronize warehouse movements with MM and LVS processes. The SAP R/3 landscape was configured to support Uniplast Knauer manufacturing processes including Spritz Blastechnik, Tiefziehtechnik and Spritzgusssysteme, addressing frequent model and tooling changes and the need to combine discrete and serial manufacturing practices.
Project governance followed a stage based cut over and production readiness sequence managed by All for One Group, with executive and operational reporting emphasized at each go live. Uniplast Knauer reported faster, more flexible production while management maintained continuous visibility of operational status. The implementation focused operational coverage on core business functions across the manufacturing site and centralized financial, logistics and production planning in SAP R/3.
