In 2022, Pidpa deployed SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as part of a coordinated SAP landscape transformation led by Capgemini, positioning SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the Core HR solution within its Human Capital Management architecture. The rollout was executed inside a 36 month program that kicked off in Antwerp, covering the entire organization with more than 500 internal users and a provisioning model designed for over 600,000 potential self service users.
The SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central implementation targeted Core HR capabilities, including employee master data, organizational management, workforce administration, and self service workflows, and was integrated into a broader HCM footprint. The program standardized HCM processes alongside finance and operational process streams, with the project explicitly addressing Finance To Manage, Procure To Pay, Meter To Cash, Order To Cash, Demand To Supply, Invest To Divest, Service To Cash, Maintain To Settle, and CRM processes, reflecting an enterprise level scope for human resources data and transaction flows.
Architecturally the landscape combined an on premise S/4HANA backbone with multiple SAP cloud products, using SAP Business Technology Platform Integration Suite to orchestrate data flows and Fiori as the unified user experience. The cloud components listed in the program included SAP Cloud for Customer with the Utilities add on, SAP Analytics Cloud, Cloud for Energy, Ariba Network, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP BTP Mobile Services, and SAP EnableNow, enabling integration points for HR records, mobility, analytics, procurement, customer interactions, and guided training content across systems.
Governance and change management were formalized through a change approval board that evaluated enhancements against implementation costs and TCO impact, driving a return to standard processes and achieving 77 percent of level 3 processes implemented in standard. Training and adoption were supported by intermediate demos during the build phase and extensive SAP EnableNow learning, while the program also incorporated digital water meter data into operational decision making. Explicitly reported outcomes include reduced full time equivalent needs through process automation, measurable cost savings from leak detection and meter data, a lower total cost of ownership from cloud adoption, and a more modern and flexible IT landscape better aligned to Pidpa business operations.

Utilities | 800 | $200M | Belgium | SAP | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | 2022 |
In 2022 Pidpa implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial solution, undertaking a green field S/4 Utilities project to align utility billing and financial operations. Capgemini served as the system integrator, delivering the S/4 Utilities baseline with a planned integration to SAP C4C for customer engagement and service orchestration.
The implementation delivered SAP S/4 HANA financial capabilities alongside industry specific S/4 Utilities functions. Functional scope included core financial modules such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed asset accounting, combined with utilities billing, meter management and customer account management capabilities. Configuration work focused on tariff and billing cycle setup, convergent charging and invoicing flows, and financial close automation aligned to utility accounting requirements.
Integration work centered on synchronizing customer master data and transactional events between SAP S/4 HANA and SAP C4C to support front office customer interactions and back office billing reconciliation. The architecture used SAP native integration patterns to maintain master data consistency and near real time event exchange between ERP Financial systems and the customer engagement layer. Technical scope implied orchestration of customer service cases, billing adjustments and receivables updates across the S/4 Utilities and C4C boundary.
Operational rollout targeted finance, customer service, billing and asset management functions within Pidpa in Belgium, with governance structures instituted by Capgemini to manage master data, cutover sequencing and post go live support. Process governance emphasized coordinated billing validation, customer account reconciliation and controlled financial close cycles to align utilities operational workflows with ERP Financial controls.
