Greenville Utilities | Utilities | 500 | $225M | United States | Oracle | Oracle E-Business Suite | ERP Financial | 2012 |
In 2012 Greenville Utilities Commission selected Emtec to implement Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform, beginning an enterprise program that also included Hyperion, Work and Asset Management Accounting and OBIEE. The implementation targeted core financial management and consolidated reporting across the utility operations that provide electric, water, sewer and natural gas services to Greenville and surrounding areas.
Oracle E-Business Suite was configured to support ERP Financial workflows, leveraging standard financial management capabilities such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and asset accounting alongside integrated financial reporting through Hyperion and OBIEE. Work and Asset Management Accounting was implemented in tandem to link transactional finance processes with operational asset and work management activities.
The Oracle footprint later expanded to include Oracle Customer Care and Billing, Mobile Workforce Management, Oracle Utilities Customer Self Service, Oracle Utilities Analytics and WAM Service Orders, creating a coordinated environment spanning customer care and billing, field operations, asset management and finance. Emtec provided integration support and batch monitoring for these applications and continues to deliver comprehensive database and application managed services through its ClearCARE program.
Governance shifted to a managed services model with Emtec ClearCARE providing post production support, application and database management, integration monitoring and operational runbook support, enabling Greenville Utilities Commission IT staff to focus on critical projects while preserving business continuity. Emtec served as the named system integrator and ongoing managed services provider for the Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial implementation and the broader Oracle utilities stack.

Greenville Utilities | Utilities | 500 | $225M | United States | Oracle | Oracle Hyperion | EPM | 2012 |
In 2012 Greenville Utilities Commission implemented Oracle Hyperion as part of a coordinated Oracle application deployment. Oracle Hyperion is positioned in the EPM category to deliver financial consolidation, planning, budgeting and management reporting capabilities across GUC's finance organization.
The Hyperion implementation was configured alongside Oracle E-Business Suite, Work and Asset Management and OBIEE to establish integrated financial and operational reporting workflows. Oracle Hyperion supported standard EPM functional modules for consolidation, budget control, forecasting and management reporting, aligned with the utility's accounting and asset management processes.
Emtec served as the implementation and managed services partner through its ClearCARE program, providing ongoing database and application managed services, integration support and batch monitoring. The deployment was integrated into GUC's broader Oracle footprint that later included Oracle Utilities components such as Customer Care and Billing, Mobile Workforce Management, Customer Self Service and Oracle Utilities Analytics, enabling cross-functional data flows between finance, asset management, customer care and field operations.
Governance shifted to a managed services model under Emtec's ClearCARE program after initial stabilization, with post-production support and operational monitoring formalized to free internal IT resources for project work while maintaining business continuity through sustained application and database operations.

In 2012, Greenville Utilities deployed Oracle OBIEE to centralize enterprise reporting and analytics. Oracle OBIEE was provisioned as the organization’s Analytics and BI platform to support operational reporting across finance, work and asset management, and field operations.
The implementation leveraged Oracle Fusion Middleware and WebLogic for application hosting, with OBIEE server configuration including repository modeling and dashboard cataloging to expose subject areas and operational analyses. Authentication and single sign on were integrated using Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Access Manager, and Oracle Enterprise Manager was used for application monitoring.
Data feeds and reporting extracts were configured from Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Utilities Work and Asset Management to enable consolidated operational and financial views for business users. Backup and recovery processes were integrated into the deployment to support platform availability and data protection.
Implementation services and system integration were delivered by Emtec, which managed configuration, environment provisioning, and rollout coordination with IT and operations stakeholders. Governance centered on role based access controls, scheduled report distribution workflows, and operational monitoring through Oracle Enterprise Manager to align support with utilities business functions.
