IBM Planning Analytics was positioned to support group-wide planning workflows and analytical simulation across Business Units, with Fincons contracted to provide implementation, integration, maintenance and user support services. Fincons established a Competence Center of over ten skilled resources, combining IT architects, technical consultants and developers that operate remotely or at the customer site depending on requirements. The Competence Center took responsibility for both initial set-up and fully operational management of the IBM Planning Analytics application, and Fincons invested in team skills while becoming an accredited IBM Official Business Partner to sustain the engagement that began in 2015. Functionally the deployment covered scenario simulation, collection of analytical bottom-up budgets from individual Business Units, group-wide consolidation and elimination of intercompany postings, calculation and presentation of cash report flows, balance sheets and KPIs derived from the income statement, and forecasting workflows. The implementation supported Swiss Re’s evolution from a traditional planning approach toward Extended Planning & Analysis, with configuration and ongoing evolutionary interventions driven by business user requests. Operationally the IBM Planning Analytics implementation exchanges data daily with Swiss Re’s existing planning systems and is managed for over 200 application users, handling more than 16 million records exchanged each day. Governance and support are delivered through the Fincons Competence Center which provides application stability, maintenance, and responsive handling of change requests, and the engagement remains active to support ongoing planning and reporting needs. |
