In 2020, SA Power Networks implemented SAP Solution Manager (ex SolMan) as their Application Lifecycle Management platform. The deployment was established to support a brownfield S/4HANA conversion program and a coordinated Microsoft Azure migration, with work executed from September 2020 through September 2024 in association with Perisoft Global Services Pty Ltd.
The SAP Solution Manager implementation focused on core ALM capabilities including change request management, test management, solution documentation, system monitoring, landscape management, and IT service management to govern S/4HANA conversions and successive upgrades. Configuration and automation tasks included ChaRM based transport control, test suite orchestration for S/4HANA 1909 through S/4HANA 2023 upgrades, and role and job provisioning in SLT for data replication activities.
Architecturally the ALM instance was integrated with an extensive SAP landscape, covering S/4HANA 1909, S/4HANA 2021, S/4HANA 2023, SAP ERP, SAP HANA, BW, SAP PO, Gateway, Enterprise Portal, SAP Data Services, Information Steward, Information Platform Services, ADS, SAP BusinessObjects, GRC, CPI, SAP Cloud Connector, SAC, JAMS, BlueWorx, SNP, RevTrac, and ServiceNow Software Asset Management. The program included on-premises to Azure migrations of ERP, BW, PO, Gateway, Solution Manager, Portal, Content Server, ADS, GRC, BO, and DS/IS/IPS, sizing of Windows and SUSE Linux virtual machines for SAP workloads, network rule definitions, Commvault configured for HANA backups, and SLT installation and job setup.
Governance and operational rollout used Solution Manager to centralize ALM processes across SAPN IT and application teams in Adelaide, supporting brownfield cutover and upgrade windows such as SPS03 and FPS01 patching cycles. Perisoft Global Services performed system builds, ESR and CR content updates for Process Orchestration upgrades, JAMS patching and configuration, proposed Adobe Document Services and Oracle database upgrade paths, SNP company code separation configuration, BlueWorx mobile maintenance integration, and performance tuning and system copy acceleration activities that supported the overall migration and upgrade program. |
