In 2017, AbbVie deployed FIS Integrated Payables to establish a centralized AP Automation capability across its finance and treasury operations. The implementation at AbbVie used FIS Integrated Payables to rationalize invoice to payment workflows, supporting automated invoice capture, payment orchestration, supplier onboarding and EFT payment processing within the AP Automation scope.
The deployment was managed through a Center of Excellence inside the Enterprise PMO based in North Chicago IL, where senior program managers concurrently oversaw multiple programs to standardize payments and billing workflows. Functional configuration emphasized payment file generation, exception handling and reconciliation, aligning FIS Integrated Payables functionality with accounts payable, treasury operations and bill pay processes.
Integrations implemented as part of the program included Online Banking, Bill Pay, Mobile Banking and EFT interfaces, and the program included multiple bank conversion programs to FIS Core products and services. The broader PMO workstream also completed two major infrastructure and security programs for Ceridian that encompassed over 50 projects, indicating coordinated sequencing between AP Automation rollout and adjacent infrastructure initiatives.
Governance was formalized through the Enterprise PMO Center of Excellence which prioritized enterprise focus, assigned multiple programs simultaneously and provided client relationship management for high profile sites. Program governance emphasized oversight, prioritized rollouts and cross-functional coordination between finance, treasury and banking operations while using FIS Integrated Payables as the centralized AP Automation platform.
