In 2021, Aegon migrated its Oracle PeopleSoft ERP General Ledger and Accounts Payable to Oracle Cloud ERP. The Project SOAR delivery phase began in September 2020 and targeted a Go Live on Oracle Cloud ERP in May 2021, with the production tenancy hosted at the Oracle Data Centre in the Netherlands. The implementation is categorized as ERP Financial and focused on centralizing core financial ledger and payables processing across Aegon NL, Aegon Asset Management, Aegon Bank and Aegon Corporate Centre (Holdings). The program was described as large and complex and was supported by an experienced PeopleSoft team located onsite in The Hague.
Configuration and technical work concentrated on Oracle Fusion Financials modules, specifically General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Cash Management. The delivery included rebuilding Financial and BI reports, converting nVision PeopleSoft reports and leveraging Oracle reporting capabilities such as OTBI alongside PeopleTools and PL/SQL for report logic and data extraction. The statement of work emphasized delivering only those non standard Oracle Cloud reports required by Aegon Financial SMEs, reducing report scope to functional necessity.
The engagement included a structured Fit Gap analysis conducted with Oracle, the PeopleSoft team and report owners to catalogue report requirements across the four business units. A dedicated Oracle Fusion Cloud reporting consultant role was used to analyze existing PeopleSoft reports, perform functional mapping to Oracle Cloud ERP, and produce the list of non standard Oracle Cloud reports to be rebuilt prior to go live. Data conversion and reporting validation workflows were coordinated across Financial SMEs in GL, AP and Cash Management.
Governance centered on cross functional review cycles with accounting and financial reporting specialists, formal sign off of the rebuilt reports, and change control to limit development to reports not provided as standard by Oracle Cloud ERP. The implementation narrative restates Oracle Cloud ERP and the ERP Financial category to clarify the system, scope and functional ownership of the project.

In 2017, Aegon implemented Workday Absence Management. Aegon Workday Absence Management provided Absence and Leave Management for HR and payroll business functions across the company and integrated into the broader global Workday footprint.
The deployment focused on configuring absence business rules and related functional areas including HCM, Organizations and Expenses. Configuration and reporting used Workday Report Writer including Report as a Service, Calculated Fields, Enterprise Interface Builder, Core Connectors, Studio and Document Transformations xtt etv, reflecting a Workday-centric configuration and orchestration approach for absence workflows.
Integrations were built and maintained by a three person HRIS integrations and support team, covering global interfaces between Workday and other IT systems. Technical integration patterns included EIB and Core Connectors for inbound and outbound flows, Studio for complex orchestrations, and file and transformation tooling using XML XSLT, SFTP, Powershell and SQL to support payroll and downstream systems.
Operational governance encompassed end to end business analysis through build and maintenance, translation of regional requirements into centralized implementation tasks, training of successors, and first line support for newly onboarded countries such as the UK. The internal support scope explicitly included NL payroll and Identity and Access Management touchpoints, positioning Workday Absence Management as the system of record for absence data and leave workflows within Aegon.

In 2023 Aegon Nederland implemented ServiceNow Business Continuity Management (BCM) in the Business Process Management category to centralize and standardize BCM across its multinational insurance operations. The deployment was driven and owned by Global Technology Services and rolled out globally to approximately 500 users, aligning regional offices across the US, EMEA, and APAC with a single BCM instance hosted on the Now Platform.
The implementation configured native Business Impact Analysis functionality, digital workflows for incident and continuity plan creation, and automated operational controls and approval flows to replace manual handoffs. ServiceNow Business Continuity Management was used to instrument end to end BIA processes, reducing time to create and maintain a BIA by 83 percent and reducing time to create and update BIA plans by 79 percent, with BIA updates shortening from three hours to 15 minutes and plan translation workflows dropping from 14 hours to three.
The BCM implementation is integrated with other ServiceNow solutions within the Now Platform, including IT Operations Management, IT Service Management, and Governance Risk and Compliance, to pass critical information across functions and geographies during events. Global Technology Services used the platform to coordinate responses during COVID and a subsequent severe storm event in the US, leveraging cross-functional automation to move information between countries and sites.
Governance changes included the adoption of a single, consistent BCM methodology and global structure, process standardization through digital approvals, and centralized administration under Global Technology Services. The program delivered a 50 percent increase in BCM administration efficiency and established a consolidated source of BCM truth, while enabling incremental automation as additional Now Platform integrations are connected.
