In 2014, Alvean implemented Kyriba Treasury for Treasury Management following the formation of the joint venture earlier that year. The treasury team, supported by PwC, signed the contract in July 2014 and executed a compressed SaaS rollout, connecting the main banking partner by late September and entering production on December 1, 2014 after an ISD security audit and live demonstration of the solution.
The deployment initially concentrated on the Kyriba Payment module within Kyriba Treasury, configured to support high value payment workflows and cash position management. The implementation supported about 26 named users, including 12 users focused on payment operations, and was configured to produce morning balances and nightly zero balance processing to anticipate financing needs.
Bank integrations were implemented using MT940 statement flows and SWIFTnet secure payment transmission, enabling centralized payment issuance from Geneva and eliminating fax and e-Banking channels. The project relied on bank connectivity and standard treasury communication protocols to consolidate payment history and past transaction data into a single system.
Governance and process changes included an ISD led security validation, automated payment approval workflows including mobile approval via Kyriba Mobile for iPhone, and removal of manual payment procedures. Operationally the treasury shifted from transactional execution toward strategic cash forecasting, tariff renegotiation, and executive reporting, with controls and decision rights retained by the treasury function.
Alvean reports that Kyriba Treasury generated explicit operational benefits, including elimination of manual payment channels, savings equivalent to two full time positions, and reductions in payment related costs. The centralized Treasury Management environment improved visibility and compressed reporting timelines, enabling the treasury team to deliver faster business analyses to executive stakeholders.
