Functional capabilities implemented included skills and experience profiles, find worker, and organizational structure visibility, enabling full visibility of all 7,000 employees and cross-border resourcing searches by technical directors. Employees gained 24/7 mobile access to HR information and self-service control over personal data, which increased real-time feedback and more frequent updates to worker records. Operational scope encompassed global HR data consolidation and uniform HR processes across every country where Aurecon operates, with all other HR systems retired or taken out of active use so Workday became the single source of HR data. Reporting matured from periodic, manually compiled outputs to real-time, self-service deliveries for global head-count and regulatory reporting, and consistent data curation practices were established across the organization.

The implementation extended an existing Workday footprint that included Core HR, Compensation and Talent, and specifically configured absence policies, entitlements and approval workflows typical for Absence and Leave Management. The project included configuration of Time Off plans and accrual logic, and the deployment emphasized solution design, development and test disciplines managed by Aurecon's People Systems team. Integrations were executed to synchronize absence and payroll data with the new ADP payroll solution, and Workday operated alongside other people systems including SABA, Aurion and PageUp. Operational coverage was global, with the People Systems team in Melbourne maintaining the Workday configuration and integration points while support execution was transitioned to a Manila support center. Governance and operating model changes accompanied the technical rollout, with Aurecon establishing business analysis, solution design, development and test functions inside IT Project Delivery. The program transferred level 1, 2 and 3 support tasks to Manila and put in place processes and governance to make the Manila team self-sufficient for BAU transactions, defects and small enhancements, which enabled the Melbourne team to focus on larger value add projects.

Governance work included iterative workshop-based configuration, updating business process definitions, and scripted test execution to validate expense, procurement and supplier controls across project workflows. Workday Professional Services Automation was positioned to support Aurecon business functions in project delivery, finance and procurement through configured spend controls and integrated project financial processes.
