In 2018 Bank of Ceylon implemented PayMedia DirectPay as a Payment Processing component within its BOC FLEX digital banking platform in Sri Lanka. PayMedia DirectPay provided payment components to support real time transactions, integrations and modern payment acceptance for customers.
Implementation concentrated on payment gateway integration and real time transaction processing modules, using PayMedia DirectPay to centralize payment acceptance workflows and authorize transactional payments initiated from digital channels. Functional capabilities deployed included gateway connectivity, payment orchestration and standard tokenization and security functions aligned with Payment Processing practices. Configuration focused on channel routing and transaction state handling to allow bank systems to capture and respond to payment events.
The deployment integrated PayMedia DirectPay with the BOC FLEX digital banking platform and with bank operational workflows for authorization, settlement and reconciliation, enabling transaction orchestration inside digital banking flows. Operational scope covered retail digital channels and customer payments across Bank of Ceylon electronic banking services in Sri Lanka. Governance emphasized embedding payment processing controls into existing banking workflows and operational monitoring to manage transaction flows.

In 2016, Bank of Ceylon upgraded to the Fiserv Signature Bank Platform to centralize core account processing and modernize branch teller workflows within Core Banking. The 2016 engagement expanded the bank's long-term relationship with Fiserv and specifically upgraded Signature core account processing along with the Teller front-end teller system.
The implementation focused on Signature core account processing for account lifecycle management, transaction posting, and ledger controls, paired with the Teller front-end teller system to standardize branch cash and transaction handling. Bank of Ceylon also selected Communicator from Fiserv to provide middleware capabilities for message orchestration and integration routing between the core and external systems.
Communicator was used to streamline integration between Signature and third-party solutions, reducing integration complexity and enabling standardized interfaces for channels and external services. Operational coverage emphasized branch teller operations, central processing functions, and retail banking workflows across Bank of Ceylon, tying Core Banking processing to customer-facing transaction flows.
Configuration and workflow alignment were adjusted to synchronize teller workflows with Signature processing, while governance centered on continued vendor collaboration to support iterative enhancements. Bank of Ceylon positioned the Fiserv Signature Bank Platform implementation to create an agile banking environment that enables quicker response to customer needs and more efficient service orchestration.

In 2024, Bank of Ceylon implemented PayMedia eKYC as part of the BOC Flex digital banking and mobile onboarding platform. The PayMedia eKYC implementation leveraged Computer Vision capabilities for identity document capture and automated OCR, facial recognition with liveness checks, and structured data extraction to drive KYC decisioning inside the onboarding flow.
The deployment functioned as a mobile-first onboarding layer embedded in BOC Flex to support customer onboarding and retail finance operations across Sri Lanka, with PayMedia eKYC handling identity capture, verification gating, and evidence retention for downstream processing. Governance and workflow changes formalized verification handoffs and identity checkpoints within digital account opening and loan application processes, and the implementation improved digital onboarding capacity and was recognised at the NBQSA 2025 awards.
