Microsoft Microsoft Dynamics AX Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations ERP Financial ERP n/a 2020 2021
In 2020, Banketbakkerij Merba migrated from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial application, aligning core financial and operational processes across a 300 employee manufacturing business in the Netherlands. The engagement centered on transitioning existing Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 environments, including POS/Retail and the Enterprise portal, into the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations implementation while preserving integrations with established ISV tooling. The implementation covered primary functional modules such as order-to-cash, purchase-to-pay, master resource planning, production management and supply chain execution, with configuration work and targeted customizations to map bakery production and distribution workflows. Customization design, authorization and security configuration, and database management were explicit responsibilities, reflecting both functional and technical modernization of transaction processing and master data. Related ISV solutions and analytics were included in scope, specifically Lasernet for document output, Targit BI for reporting and FourVision HR for HR processes, and the project accounted for continuity of POS/Retail and Enterprise portal components during the cutover. The IT advisor role also encompassed coordination of Business Intelligence, SharePoint and Power Apps workstreams to ensure reporting, collaboration and lightweight extensions were aligned with the ERP Financial deployment. Governance and operational ownership were structured around internal IT stewardship with a managing developer under the IT advisor, responsibility for authorization and security, and hands-on database and infrastructure oversight tied to the Dynamics AX 2012 estate during migration. The migration sequence emphasized translating organizational requirements into technical and functional solutions, and the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations deployment was positioned to centralize finance, production and supply chain operations under unified application governance.
