| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | Protera Technologies | 2017 | 2018 |
In 2017, Beautycounter implemented SAP S/4HANA as its ERP Financial system to address scalability and supply chain visibility challenges. The initial implementation stalled during an AWS migration, and Protera Technologies was engaged to stabilize the environment, fully implementing SAP ECC, Process Orchestration, and Web Dispatcher on AWS within a six month project timeline while taking over ongoing cloud and SAP managed services.
In 2018 Beautycounter transformed its instance to SAP S/4HANA version 1610 with a focus on end user capabilities and analytics, deploying SAP S/4HANA and activating Fiori transactional and analytics apps for finance and accounting. The deployment emphasized supply chain and finance workflows, moving many manual processes to automated S/4HANA-driven transactions and enabling faster analytics and reporting for functional teams.
Protera handled digital interfaces between a cloud Integrated Business Planning solution and the SAP S/4HANA instance to streamline demand forecasting, sales and operations planning, and supply planning processes, and the company migrated its SAP footprint to AWS. Operational coverage included finance, accounting, and supply chain teams, and the project supported a distributor transition in 2020 while keeping interfaces and fulfillment flows synchronized with the S/4HANA core.
Governance and rollout combined MSP managed services with internal change management, including a roadshow across functional units to drive Fiori adoption and to demonstrate process improvements. Protera later executed a 12 week upgrade to SAP S/4HANA 2020 and resized the SAP on AWS instance to increase memory allocation, and Beautycounter reports a 25 to 30 percent increase in inventory accuracy with trackable flows from sale to procurement to the general ledger.

In 2017, Beautycounter deployed Adobe Connect on its public website to provide web-based meetings and virtual events. Adobe Connect is used as an Audio Video and Web Conferencing application to deliver persistent virtual rooms, webinar pods, screen sharing, recording, chat, and breakout session capabilities that support live product presentations and hosted events.
The implementation centers on cloud-hosted Adobe Connect meeting rooms embedded into the corporate site, enabling scheduled and on-demand sessions for customer engagement and training workflows. Operational coverage emphasizes retail-facing functions, including marketing, customer experience, and advisor training, with governance focused on centralized meeting templates, branded content controls, and scheduled event administration to maintain consistency across sessions. Beautycounter Adobe Connect Audio Video and Web Conferencing supports interactive product demonstrations and hosted educational sessions while preserving a web-native access model for attendees.

| Contentful GmbH | Legacy | Contentful Content Platform | Web Content Management | Content Management | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 Beautycounter implemented Contentful Content Platform to decouple its ecommerce front end from Magento and establish a headless content layer. This Web Content Management deployment targeted the public storefront and checkout flows and enabled a React based front end architecture for marketing driven page templates and interaction design.
The Contentful Content Platform was configured to provide structured content models, editorial authoring workflows, and API driven content delivery to support rapid front end iteration. Implementation work included content modeling for marketing pages, templating contracts for the React storefront, and prototypes built in InVision and HTML CSS JS to validate interaction designs prior to engineering handoff.
The project integrated the Contentful Content Platform with the existing Magento commerce backend while decoupling presentation from Magento templating, allowing the React front end to consume content via Contentful APIs. Operational ownership spanned Marketing, Product UX, and Development teams, with the platform used to coordinate content updates across the ecommerce site and checkout experience.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical rollout, with a new UX UI team established and product management responsibilities enforced during sprint delivery to reduce cross team implementation errors. The Contentful Content Platform deployment supported a redesigned checkout and continuous iteration practices, and post launch reporting recorded a 10% conversion increase after launch as well as a significant improvement in overall page speed.
