In 2018 Benetton Group implemented SAP S/4 HANA together with SAP Fashion Management and the SAP HANA platform to simplify retail and franchise operations into one integrated system. The SAP S/4 HANA project was scoped to address ERP Financial requirements while unifying transactional finance with retail process support across Benetton's global retail network of more than 5,000 retailers.
Configuration emphasized core financial and retail operational capabilities, including a central financial ledger, accounts receivable and payable, order to cash workflows, inventory and distribution management, and retail merchandising and franchise operations support. SAP Fashion Management components were used alongside SAP S/4 HANA to align product and assortment master data with point of sale and franchise sales processes, enabling consistent merchandising and sales orchestration.
Architecturally the deployment leveraged SAP HANA as the in-memory database to enable tighter integration between finance, distribution, and sales process streams and to support real-time transactional processing. Governance and rollout focused on centralizing distribution and sales process ownership, standardizing master data and operational workflows across retail and franchise channels. Benetton expects increased speed and flexibility in supporting distribution and sales processes and to deliver superior value to customers by using SAP S/4 HANA and SAP innovations to streamline operations.
