In 2016 Best Western implemented Workday Financial Management as its cloud ERP Financial solution, replacing Oracle PeopleSoft ERP and aligning financial systems with a concurrent Workday HCM program. The deployment targeted enterprise finance operations for the leisure and hospitality business, establishing Workday Financial Management as the primary system for corporate financial control and accounting workflows.
Configuration work concentrated on core ERP Financial capabilities common to Workday Financial Management deployments, including ledger design and chart of accounts rationalization, accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, procurement configuration, fixed asset accounting and financial reporting. The implementation emphasized standardization of transaction processing and financial period close workflows to meet corporate accounting requirements.
Data migration and cutover planning included conversion of core financial ledgers and chart of accounts from Oracle PeopleSoft ERP into Workday Financial Management, while functional alignment ensured organizational hierarchies and master data were consistent between Workday HCM and Workday Financial Management. Integration and data alignment focused on unifying workforce and cost center structures to support finance driven allocations and reporting.
Program governance followed an end to end project lifecycle from initiation through post production support, with centralized finance process ownership, staged validation cycles and operational handover to corporate finance and property accounting teams. The project scope covered system configuration, data conversion, testing and production support activities to sustain the new Workday Financial Management environment.

Operational ownership sat with corporate HR and IT teams who managed configuration, testing, and post go live support, and who used the implementation to reshape HR service delivery and governance for Core HR operations.
