In 2011, Biocon implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to consolidate core accounting and financial management processes. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment focused on ERP Financial capabilities to establish centralized financial records and statutory reporting across its operations.
Configuration emphasized Financial Accounting and Controlling modules, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and cash management. Standard ERP Financial workflows such as period end close, intercompany accounting and financial reporting were implemented and configured in accordance with ECC 6.0 functional patterns. Workflows were aligned to SAP ECC 6.0 best practices for chart of accounts and fiscal year variants.
The implementation used an on-premises architecture with SAP DB application installation and operating system administration executed on site in Bengaluru. Infrastructure components documented in the implementation included IBM HMC management, IBM V5000 storage arrays, Dell servers and IBM Power servers, supplemented by a dedicated disaster recovery setup. Systems engineering responsibilities covered OS administration, storage provisioning and SAP database installation to support ECC 6.0 runtime.
Operational scope targeted finance and accounting departments with on-site SAP administration and ongoing systems support recorded in runbooks. Governance incorporated defined change control for SAP application and database updates, documented DR procedures and operational handoffs for SAP administration and infrastructure management.
