Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan selected and deployed Oracle Cloud ERP in 2020 as its enterprise ERP Financial application, replacing legacy PeopleSoft and several other legacy ERP systems. The implementation delivered a centralized, enterprise instance used by BCBSM and 26 subsidiary entities; historical General Ledger data from four legacy ERPs was converted into Oracle Cloud General Ledger via Oracle Accounting Hub Cloud Service (AHCS). Core financial modules brought into the cloud instance include General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Intercompany Workbench, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Revenue Management and Subscription Management.
The deployment was integrated with Oracle Cloud EPM applications (EPBCS, FCCS, EDMCS, ARCS and PCMCS) to support planning, consolidation and data management workflows. Operational activities documented during and after cutover included record-to-report leadership, entity onboarding for mergers and acquisitions into the enterprise instance, ongoing post-implementation stabilization in collaboration with Oracle product and support teams, bi-weekly sprint reviews for prioritization, and the development of onboarding materials and procedures for new IT hires. In 2021 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan implemented Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits as its primary Benefits Administration application. The engagement focused on configuring benefits functionality and providing ongoing implementation and support for HR benefits processes across the enterprise.
Configuration work centered on core benefits management capabilities within Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits, including evidence of insurability, dependent designations, benefit certifications for life events, and the full setup of Benefits Program, Plan Type, Plan, Options, Eligibility, Rates and Coverages, and Open Enrollment. The team also configured two Workforce Compensation Plans with three components each to align compensation elements with benefits administration where required.
The project included conversion of legacy benefits data into Oracle Cloud, extensive testing discipline with unit testing and regression testing, and facilitation of conference room pilot calls to validate configurations. Practitioners reported working knowledge of Fusion cloud/EBiz in support activities, and they provided demonstrations and assisted the client in acceptance testing and cutover preparations.
Post go live support and governance emphasized a tiered help desk model with Level 1 through Level 3 escalation, ticket management, and a documented knowledge base of articles and FAQs.
