| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | Baker Tilly Advisory Group | 2020 | 2021 |
In 2020 Boise State University implemented Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management as part of a broader Oracle HCM Cloud deployment to modernize HR processes. The implementation addressed a long history as a PeopleSoft customer where on premise customizations and manual processes had created operational burden, and it positioned absence and leave processing within a unified cloud HCM environment.
The deployment included Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management alongside Core HR, payroll, benefits, and time and labor modules to create end to end HR transaction flows. Baker Tilly Advisory Group led a principled design approach using a Harmonize phase to drive common model design, and the program used a big bang cutover so all modules went live concurrently, enabling the absence module to operate within a consistent security and business object model across the suite.
Integrations were explicitly aligned to the existing Oracle Cloud ERP foundation, creating consistent master data across Campus, Finance, and HR and allowing the absence module to read and contribute to the same employee and payroll datasets. The implementation enabled transaction status tracking and improved auditing capabilities, and the University reported a reduction of over half of custom reporting needs as HR and finance now share a single cloud data model.
Governance and process redesign were core components of the effort, with Baker Tilly functioning as a strategic implementation partner and extension of Boise State staff, and change management embedded throughout the rollout. The program emphasized sustainability, continuous improvement, and operating model changes so managers and employees could initiate and transact absence requests through self service rather than paper or spreadsheets.
As an outcome of the Oracle Cloud HCM Absence Management deployment Boise State automated 98% of HR processes and reduced day to day transaction volume on HR staff, enabling HR resources to focus on more strategic university priorities. The University characterizes go live as the start of an ongoing improvement journey, operating on a current release cadence to sustain and evolve absence and leave operations within the Absence and Leave Management category.

In 2022, Boise State University implemented Stellar Cyber Multi-Layer AI as part of an adoption of Stellar Cyber's Open XDR for the Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity's Cyberdome program. The deployment embedded Generative AI Platforms capabilities into the Cyberdome to provide Security-as-a-Service to Idaho cities, counties and K-12 districts while creating hands-on SOC experience for students.
The implementation focused on multi-layer detection and correlation, AI-assisted threat prioritization, and automation of analyst triage consistent with Open XDR and Multi-Layer AI functionality. Stellar Cyber Multi-Layer AI was configured to centralize incident analytics, consolidate telemetry for contextual correlation, and present a unified SOC workbench used in student-led incident response exercises.
Operational coverage extended across the Cyberdome program, enabling the university to deliver managed security services to municipal and educational customers while routing alerts and case work into academic training pipelines. The deployment aligned platform ingestion and alerting to the operational needs of Idaho cities, counties and K-12 districts, supporting both production security operations and supervised SOC shifts for students.
Governance and process changes formalized incident handling playbooks and integrated supervised analyst shifts into coursework to sustain Security-as-a-Service operations. The deployment is described as improving threat visibility, increasing analyst productivity and enabling expanded statewide coverage.
