| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2021 | 2024 |
In 2021, Borealis implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial platform to centralize core financial processes and transactional accounting. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment was scoped as an enterprise finance program to harmonize financial close, statutory reporting and operational finance workflows across the organization.
The implementation concentrated on finance-oriented capabilities consistent with ERP Financial deployments, including general ledger consolidation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and controlling. Configuration work emphasized unified chart of accounts, period-end close orchestration, and standardized master data for vendors, customers and fixed assets to enable consistent financial processing and reporting.
Integration work focused on seamless information flows across business functions, with collaboration between internal teams, third-party suppliers and implementation partners to align transactional handoffs and reconciliations. The program covered cross-functional touch points between finance, procurement and operational planning to ensure timely posting, supplier settlement and cash management.
Program governance was managed through a centralized programme management office, with the SAP S/4 HANA programme manager leading vendor selection activities, contract negotiations and budget oversight. The manager acted as a business IT bridge, guiding business experts through design, testing and training cycles and engaging the Steering Committee to approve process deviations and maintain program controls.

| Cenosco.com | Legacy | Cenosco IMS | Asset Performance Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 Borealis implemented Cenosco IMS. The deployment used Cenosco IMS as an Asset Performance Management application to assess asset-specific risk and drive preventive maintenance planning across its operations.
Cenosco IMS was configured with modular components, the IMS architecture breaking down into modules that focus on different application areas and equipment types. The software assesses asset-specific risk levels through equipment's current and historical data and uses those risk assessments to optimize a plant's preventive maintenance plan, aligning maintenance intervals and inspection priorities with calculated integrity risk.
Operational coverage aligned with typical plant-level APM workflows, with the Cenosco IMS deployment intended for maintenance planners, reliability engineers, operations and asset integrity teams. The vendor reports the product supporting over 5,000 users at about 100 plants in 30 countries globally, with customers including Shell, Borealis and Sapref, indicating distributed site-level usage and multi-site configuration patterns.
Governance and rollout emphasized standardized, risk-based maintenance planning, with modular configuration by equipment class and application area to enable consistent risk scoring and maintenance orchestration across sites. Cenosco IMS is described as the central Asset Performance Management system for coordinating preventive maintenance schedules and integrity assessment activities rather than as a point tool for isolated inspections.
