In 2017 B&Q United Kingdom began a rollout of TCS OmniStore POS in its stores across the UK and France. The project was associated with Tata Consultancy Services and ran from March 2017 to April 2020, using the TCS OmniStore POS Point Of Sale application to standardize store checkout and transaction processing across both countries.
The implementation configured core Point Of Sale capabilities including the transaction engine, omni channel checkout workflows, returns and refunds processing, payments orchestration, and local inventory visibility at the store terminal level. Functional configuration included staff authentication and role based cashier workflows, promotions and pricing logic at point of sale, and integration ready interfaces to support centralized merchandising and stock reconciliation activities.
Operational coverage extended to B&Q stores in the United Kingdom and France, where store level terminals were paired with centralized retail services to provide consistent checkout processing and inventory visibility. Integrations were implemented to connect the Point Of Sale application with store back office inventory and merchandising systems, payments processing channels, and customer loyalty or CRM streams, supporting store operations, merchandising, payments, customer service, and loss prevention functions.
Rollout governance followed a phased regional deployment between March 2017 and April 2020, with program level coordination between Tata Consultancy Services and B&Q retail IT, and structured store level onboarding and training to align checkout workflows and operational procedures. Change control and operational handover were applied to ensure standardized POS configuration and continued support for store operations across the UK and France.
