| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 BP America implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its core ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and adopting an industry standard Onshore Oil and Gas template to centralize finance and procurement operations. The deployment targeted Finance and PSCM workflows across BP America onshore assets, with explicit focus on L48 operations and coordination through Houston based finance leadership.
The implementation centered on Finance and Procure to Pay functional capabilities, including accounts payable controls, invoice processing and backbone finance processes. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support centralized AP operations, standardized transaction flows, and backbone compliance controls, reflecting the role of P2P and A/P process ownership described by the BPX P2P business lead.
Integrations implemented as part of the program included Oildex and OneSource, notably Oildex Open Invoice integration for vendor invoicing and electronic invoice handling. The architecture emphasized consolidation of tightly integrated applications, decommissioning and replacement of named prior systems, and creation of a flexible, template-driven onshore environment to reduce application sprawl.
Governance and rollout were organized around simplifying and standardizing business processes, enforcing a single A/P operating model across assets, cross-asset training to extend A/P coverage, and maintaining a sound control compliance framework aligned to BP Backbone finance standards. The program explicitly sought to consolidate applications, standardize financial and PSCM workflows, and create an agile onshore operating model using SAP S/4 HANA as the ERP Financial backbone.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, BP America deployed IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform to support procurement and maintenance workflows across its US operations. The IBM Maximo deployment was positioned to manage asset lifecycles, work orders, inventory and procurement details for maintenance, repair and operations activities.
The implementation emphasized configuration of work order management, inventory control and procurement modules, enabling users to issue material and service purchase orders from approved requisitions, maintain parts master data, and track acknowledgments and outstanding purchase orders. Functional capabilities included vendor record maintenance, purchase order amendment handling for turnaround events, and structured parts description review processes to improve procurement accuracy.
IBM Maximo was implemented to interoperate with existing ERP and MRP systems, specifically SAP and Ariba as noted in procurement workflows, to exchange purchase requisitions, purchase orders and vendor information. Operational coverage included procurement teams based in Hampton, VA, accounts payable collaboration for invoice processing and troubleshooting, and active support for turnaround event ordering and expediting.
Governance changes focused on embedding procurement controls in the EAM layer, enforcing purchase order issuance from approved requisitions, tracking vendor compliance through system records, and documenting processes for contract oversight. The rollout also included training and mentorship for new joiners to ensure consistent use of IBM Maximo for procurement, inventory analysis and turnaround event management.

| Palantir Technologies | Legacy | Palantir Foundry | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 BP America implemented Palantir Foundry to support Analytics and BI for downstream refining and manufacturing across BP Americas. The deployment was led by a BP Americas project lead and senior solution architect, who exercised delegated design authority for refining and manufacturing analytics and guided the programmatic adoption of cloud based data engineering patterns.
The Palantir Foundry implementation focused on standard Analytics and BI capabilities including automated data ingestion, enterprise data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and self service analytical workspaces. Foundry was configured alongside a Cloudera Data Lake and integrated tooling to enable repeatable pipelines, with explicit design standards for data ingestion technologies, Informatica BDM, and reporting on Tableau.
Architecturally the work centered on a hybrid cloud data lake footprint, leveraging Cloudera on Amazon AWS and Palantir Foundry components such as Foundry, Lava, and Contour to operationalize analytics for downstream use cases. The solution handled more than 50 use cases with multiple sources and targets, and implemented interim data lake strategies to allow business progression in a temporary environment while the longer term cloud architecture matured.
Governance and rollout emphasized rigorous design standards, tracking of key design decisions and risks, and adoption of Agile methodology and framework practices to accelerate delivery. The project delivered the first fully automated downstream analytics solution in the new standard Cloudera Data Lake in record time, under budget, and with strong customer satisfaction, while establishing repeatable development and governance patterns for future Analytics and BI efforts using Palantir Foundry.
