In 2017, Camgrain deployed Capita Workforce Management. The Capita Workforce Management implementation was chosen to address shortcomings of an existing fob-based clocking-in environment that generated frequent lost or forgotten fobs and required terminals to retain records that were later downloaded by USB, which prevented real-time visibility. Camgrain is a United Kingdom consumer packaged goods company with approximately 350 employees, and the deployment aimed to deliver accurate, real-time capture of employee working hours to support operational scheduling and payroll intake. The project is categorized as Workforce Management and focused on replacing manual data transfer workflows with system-side time capture.
The implementation configured time and attendance capture and centralized timekeeping within the Workforce Management application, moving terminal-local storage to an aggregated data store accessible to HR and operations. Standard Workforce Management capabilities were implemented, including electronic clocking capture, roster and shift recording, and structured timecard reporting to feed payroll processes. Configuration work emphasized real-time event capture and validation to reduce manual reconciliation and to ensure timely availability of clocking data.
Rollout momentum originated from a recommendation to the Camgrain IT Manager at a local networking event, and governance was aligned to change timekeeping procedures across frontline operations and HR payroll teams. Operational process changes removed USB-based download steps and centralized record processing within Capita Workforce Management, shifting responsibility for time data aggregation to the application. The narrative centers on Capita Workforce Management as the Workforce Management solution addressing clocking accuracy and visibility challenges at Camgrain.
