In 2018, Citizens Energy Group implemented AppWorx Workload Automation as part of its Business Process Management portfolio. The deployment emphasized centralized job scheduling and workload orchestration to automate repetitive back-office batch tasks and cross-application workflows.
Configuration work focused on automating scheduled batch jobs and event-driven workflows typical of workload automation, with functional emphasis on job scheduling, dependency orchestration, and file-based process triggers. Implementation activity ran alongside internal automation projects that included Automic Workload Automation efforts supporting Oracle Customer Care & Billing, and application development for the Citizens Energy Link web portal that handles high-volume gas nomination processing.
Operational coverage encompassed Customer Care and Billing workflows, customer research automation, and portal operations, and the implementation was applied to processes connected to the Customer to Meter C2M rollout that replaced Banner Customer Suite. Integrations explicitly reflected support for Oracle Customer Care & Billing systems and coexisted with portal and billing automation workstreams rather than third-party integration projects.
Process outcomes recorded during the period included an automated survey process that delivered a documented time savings of two hours per day for a Customer Research Analyst, and the automation foundation supported high-volume nomination handling in the Citizens Energy Link portal. Governance emphasis prioritized central job cataloging and role-aligned operational ownership to stabilize scheduled workloads and coordinate batch windows across billing and portal operations.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Power BI | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2016 | 2018 |
In 2016, Citizens Energy Group implemented Microsoft Power BI to expand Analytics and BI capabilities for IT performance metrics and enterprise reporting. The engagement included upgrading the 2008 data warehouse to the Microsoft '15 and '16 BI stack running on HPE Gen9 blade VMs, with the data warehouse sourced from an upgraded Oracle E-Business Suite.
Microsoft Power BI dashboards were created to surface IT performance metrics, and development work addressed data discrepancies uncovered during dashboard design. The implementation incorporated standard BI workflows for data extraction and staging from Oracle E-Business Suite into the upgraded data warehouse, and teams produced solution and application life-cycle road maps to govern future releases.
The effort extended beyond visualization into platform architecture, as data governance planning was assisted and used to define a new data exchange architecture. That planning led to procurement of a Cloudera platform Hadoop environment to supplement the enterprise data warehouse and support broader data ingestion use cases.
Operationally the project consolidated the corporate Application Inventory to improve ownership and governance visibility, while Microsoft Power BI served as the front end for Analytics and BI across IT operations. The program focused on system architecture, BI stack configuration, data sourcing from Oracle E-Business Suite, and governance artifacts to standardize lifecycle and data stewardship.
