In 2022, Clarivate Analytics implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as its ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0. The implementation combined Oracle NetSuite ERP with NetSuite OpenAir for project management, establishing project to finance flows that support project budget tracking and forecasting based on project status and billing information. Functional modules and capabilities configured included procure to pay, order to cash, record to report, advanced revenue management, and OpenAir linked project management processes, with custom workflows, dashboards, and expense loading logic developed to meet professional services requirements.
HCL Technologies served as the systems integrator, managing and optimizing NetSuite OpenAir and ERP functionalities and delivering the customizations. The architecture moved core financial and project processes to NetSuite SaaS, reducing dependency on virtual private network connectivity for distributed teams, while ensuring project status and billing data feed into general ledger and revenue accounting processes.
Operational scope centered on project finance, resource management, billing, and revenue accounting, with governance expanded to include updated billing rules, revenue recognition policies, and expense capture workflows. HCL Technologies implemented process orchestration through role specific dashboards and automated workflows to support consistent project profitability calculations and forecasting.
Reported outcomes from the engagement include automation of complex billing rules, advanced revenue recognition tracking and forecasting, optimized resource utilization, and automated expense management enabling more precise project profitability calculations. Clarivate Analytics plans to continue the program with HCL Technologies to implement NetSuite Analytics Warehouse to extend reporting and analytics capabilities.
