In 2019 Condumex Mexico deployed ADVARIS Manufacturing Execution System MES across one enterprise and six factories supporting seven product groups, addressing the specific production requirements of cable and enameled wire manufacturing, Apps Category . The implementation was chosen after a cross divisional project team evaluated industry specific needs and sought a solution able to deliver plant specific adaptations without compromise.
ADVARIS Manufacturing Execution System MES was configured to provide product data management and production execution, with a cable design module that automatically generates and maintains several thousand product variants. Core functional capabilities implemented include transfer of base production data such as machine speeds, scrap quantities, usable drum sizes and alternative machine assignments into a detailed planning and scheduling module, machine occupancy planning to reduce setup and scrap, shop floor data acquisition tied to machine controls and measuring devices for quality assurance, and barcode based drum verification to ensure job level correctness and traceability.
The ADVARIS solution was integrated with SAP S/4HANA using the Mill Products industry package, with close interfaces linking ERP and MES to cover processes from machine control to financial accounting and from cable design to delivery. Initial operational coverage included the Potencia and Magneto factories with a stated plan to extend ADVARIS MES across the remaining four locations so that by 2020 all Condumex cables would be produced under the MES governed process.
Project governance involved a Condumex project team with divisional representatives and implementation support from Tag Consulting, enabling coordinated rollout and plant specific adaptations. Reported outcomes from the deployment include more fluid operations, simplified employee interaction with production systems, real time production visibility and KPIs on office screens, elimination of manual notes as sources of error and full traceability of every cable length through machine level data acquisition and barcode controls.
