In 2007, Colorado State University joined Kuali as a development partner and selected Kuali Financials for core financial management. Kuali Financials is an application in the Education ERP category and CSU pursued the implementation to better integrate campus financial operations with research administration across the United States.
The deployment configured Kuali Financials modules typical for Education ERP use, including general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, budget controls, and project accounting for sponsored research. Kuali Financials was tailored to support CSU fund structures and chart of accounts and to enable workflow automation for transactional processing.

Operational coverage extended across administrative finance teams and research administration offices, aligning transaction processing and reporting between business functions.
CSU went live with KFS in 2009 following the development partnership and staged rollout across finance and research administration functions. Governance was managed at the university level to standardize configuration choices and approval workflows.
