In 2017 Corbion launched project CUBE to implement SAP S/4 HANA as a new global ERP platform. The program ran from 2017 to 2023 and sought to consolidate core transactional processes into a unified ERP Financial environment.
The SAP S/4 HANA implementation encompassed core financial functionality typical of an ERP Financial deployment, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting and financial close processes, while extending to procure-to-pay and order-to-cash transactional flows. Configuration work emphasized master data standardization, chart of accounts harmonization and accounting period controls to align financial operations under SAP S/4 HANA.
Project CUBE was structured as a global program affecting finance, procurement and operational transactional functions across Corbion's sites, centralizing transactional processing onto SAP S/4 HANA. The application name SAP S/4 HANA served as the primary system for core transactional workflows within Corbion's ERP Financial footprint.
Because the initiative addressed nearly all core transactional processes, Corbion identified the potential for major business interruptions if the transition was not prepared and managed well. Governance for the multi-year program emphasized strong change control, rigorous testing and cutover planning to mitigate operational disruption, and the sustained program timeline from 2017 to 2023 framed phased delivery and stabilization activities.

In 2018 Corbion implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as their Core HR system. The deployment was run as a global HR information system initiative supporting corporate HR, recruitment, learning and development, and talent management across Corbion, a life sciences company with 2,399 employees. A Global HR Project Coordinator function led process definition, organizational data collection, and internal training delivery to align local HR administrators and managers. Implementation activities were documented and coordinated between 2016 and 2019 to prepare the organization for the new Core HR platform.
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central was configured to centralize employee master data and organizational management, to capture personnel changes including sickness and time registration, and to support recruitment and selection administration. The project documented existing personnel policy workflows and produced training documentation, enabling internal training on system use and interpretation of HR data. KPI reporting and data analysis workflows were established within the Employee Central environment to provide HR operations with standardized reporting and workforce metrics.
Operational coverage included HR operations, L&D program administration, coordination of global education and diversity programs, and execution of talent reviews and succession planning activities. The implementation supported facilitation of an employee satisfaction survey through organizational data collection, internal communication campaigns, interpretation training, and workshops for action planning. Corbion integrated these talent and learning processes into the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central configuration to centralize HR processes and program administration.
Governance was built on written process descriptions, centralized personnel data management, and role based training led by internal HR project coordinators. The program emphasized standardization of HR workflows and the embedding of talent review and succession planning processes into the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Core HR environment to ensure consistent operational practices across sites.
