SAP Legacy SAP Concur Expense Expense Management ERP Financial Management n/a 2015 2015
In 2015, Costain Group implemented SAP Concur Expense to address corporate expense management needs as part of a coordinated Timesheet and Expense rollout. The SAP Concur Expense deployment supported the Expense Management category workstream and was aligned with concurrent development of a customer billing module. The implementation encompassed design, development, testing and support across multiple sectors of Costain Group, with explicit workstreams for Timesheet and Expense modules and follow up customer billing functionality. SAP Concur Expense was configured to support standard expense reporting and approval workflows consistent with Expense Management practice, and the project included system testing and end user rollout planning. An internal automation team was created to manage ongoing configuration and process orchestration. A key technical signal was a purpose built integration into JD Edwards E1, which linked Concur expense records to Costain billing and financial posting processes for downstream accounting. The SAP Concur Expense integration into JD Edwards E1 was built and tested as part of the overall rollout. The solution now supports around 3500 users across the country and spans operational departments responsible for timesheets, expense submission and customer billing reconciliation. Governance and operational change included centralized testing, phased sector rollouts and ongoing support led by the internal automation solutions team. That team worked with a third party robotics partner to develop and deploy robotic process automation for repetitive tasks, which was reported as highly successful in saving people time and enabling remote execution of routine work. Ongoing responsibilities include support, automation maintenance and process improvement aligned to Expense Management and billing workflows.
