Costco (2019) implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its new ERP Financial application to replace a legacy ERP. The program was executed through Costco’s Global SAP Program Management Office and included technical HANA implementations deployed both on‑premises and in Microsoft Azure. Internal SAP platform leadership (SAP BASIS Manager through mid‑2023 and a Director of SAP Platform & Services from mid‑2023) managed the platform, technical delivery and ongoing S/4 HANA projects.
The S/4 HANA deployment served as the backbone for a broader suite of SAP systems and was integrated with an agile Business Process Management cadence that delivered system releases into production every four weeks. Explicit functional areas and modules involved span finance/ERP, global supply chain planning, Non‑Foods Quality Assurance, International Buying, fresh foods and merchandising; the implementation work also connected to manufacturing execution systems at meat manufacturing plants, expanded product traceability, and compliance solutions for HAZMAT and SAFE Port Act requirements. The initiative focused on planning, road‑mapping and rolling out S/4 HANA and associated SAP HANA systems across multiple operational domains within the enterprise.

In 2015 Costco selected and deployed UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) to replace a legacy absence/leave system, implementing the solution as part of a broader Workforce Central upgrade from WFC 6.3 to WFC 8.0. The procurement targeted Absence and Leave Management while aligning with wider WFM concepts—Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, entitlements, accruals and employee scheduling.
Implementation work covered core Workforce Central modules including Time & Attendance (Enterprise eTime), Absence Management, Timekeeper, Leave, Scheduler, Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service (with workflows), Workforce Device Manager (WDM/DCM), and EIM/WIM interfaces. Technical delivery included accrual plan configuration and employee migration to new accruals, creation of pay rules/work rules/paycode and wage profiles, assignment rules, labor levels and schedules, and configuration of holidays, access and display profiles. Integrations were established with HRMS (PeopleSoft) and Oracle payroll interfaces, plus inbound/outbound WIM feeds for employee data and payroll hours; device work included configuration and rollout of Kronos 4500 and InTouch 9000 clocks and deployment of 80 ADP 4500 biometric clocks.
Delivery emphasis was cross-functional and enterprise in scope: technical configuration, interface development, reporting and analytics (MS SQL stored procedures, SSIS packages, SSRS/Clarity/Tagetik reporting, SSAS cubes and MDX), testing and change management, production support, and documentation of BRDs/FRDs and upgrade test procedures to support the installed employee base and integrated payroll/HR landscape.
