In 2016, Delaware implemented SAP S/4 HANA as part of a strategic move to run its entire IT landscape in the cloud and to co-innovate with SAP. Delaware became the first live customer for the SAP S/4 HANA Professional Services Cloud solution, positioning the project within the companys professional services and finance agenda.
The deployment leveraged the SAP S/4 HANA Professional Services Cloud to centralize ERP Financial capabilities, providing a single financial ledger and strengthened project financials for services billing and revenue orchestration. Configuration work emphasized core financial accounting, project cost and revenue tracking, and service-oriented order-to-cash workflows typical of professional services ERP implementations.
Architecturally the program moved the companys IT estate into a cloud-first SAP environment, creating a unified platform for finance and delivery operations across its professional services organization. The rollout was executed in close collaboration with SAP through a co-innovation model, enabling early access to Professional Services Cloud capabilities and iterative refinement of integration points with internal service delivery and project management processes.
Governance was structured to support cloud operations and product feedback, aligning finance, delivery, and IT process owners to the new SAP S/4 HANA platform and to the Professional Services Cloud operating model. Being the first live customer for the solution served as an explicit implementation milestone and validated the cloud deployment approach in collaboration with SAP.
