In 2005, the Department of Human Services (DHS) implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment established a centralized financial backbone to support corporate finance and shared service operations across DHS.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation was configured to deliver core ERP Financial capabilities, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Asset Accounting, Controlling and funds management for public sector budgeting and reporting. Configuration work focused on shared service workflows and financial master data consolidation to enable consistent financial controls across corporate departments.
SAP served as both vendor and implementation partner for the program, and later architecture work in 2015 further aligned the estate to an SAP HANA and SAP S/4 HANA roadmap. That 2015 engagement included SAP HANA solution architect consulting, preparation of an architectural roadmap, and certification work for SAP HANA SP10 on IBM Power8 E870 appliances running SUSE Linux 12 SP4 as part of a Test and Evaluation Agreement for SAP ERP and SRM.
Governance and operational coverage extended through DHS ICT Strategy, Architecture and Shared Service divisions, with consultancy input from enterprise and product architects and engagement with Corporate Shared Service departments including HR, Payroll, Finance and Procurement. The architecture reviews also examined coherence between the shared services roadmap and Social Services agency roadmaps for Medicare, Centrelink and Child Support to align SAP ERP ECC 6.0 operational models with future HANA and S/4 HANA initiatives.
