In 2012, Dollarama implemented SAP HCM (HR) as a Core HR solution to consolidate payroll and human capital management. The implementation was part of a corporate initiative that also deployed Kronos to replace manual timesheets and modernize time management workflows.
The SAP HCM (HR) deployment centered on payroll processing, time management integration, vacation and absence workflow configuration, and expanded HRIS functionality for auditing and data integrity. Implementation activities included designing payroll rules, driving HRIS functional enhancements, and establishing auditing processes to ensure system accuracy.
Dollarama integrated an SAP/Kronos payroll architecture to support approximately 18,000 employees across 800 stores in all Canadian provinces, aligning time capture with payroll run processing and compliance workflows. The project positioned SAP HCM (HR) as the Core HR system of record, with the implementation team serving as the primary liaison between IT and business stakeholders.
Operational governance covered transformation of the payroll and benefits department, supervision of consultant deliverables, and change management to support HR teams, which required increased productivity and competencies and led to restructuring of services. Following core deployment, a business intelligence vision and an evaluation of an enterprise content management solution were initiated to enable senior management reporting and to automate employee lifecycle documentation.

In 2007, Dollarama implemented SAP Retail as part of a Retail Management initiative, with a Program Manager based in Montréal, QC responsible for developing and managing the project plan. The Program Manager for SAP Canada executed project governance activities including steering committee participation, regular project updates, and escalation management to surface and resolve implementation issues.
SAP Retail was configured to support core retail workflows and operational readiness, with the Program Manager directing creation of training materials for store and warehouse employees who would use the SAP Retail application. The narrative and role emphasize operational configuration and user enablement, reflecting typical Retail Management functional areas such as merchandising workflows, inventory stewardship, and store operations readiness.
The implementation work included active facilitation between business owners and project management to ensure clear ownership of project issues and alignment on operational responsibilities, extending coverage to store and warehouse operational teams. The program activities centered on preparing the organization to use SAP Retail, translating technical milestones into business readiness tasks for front line and distribution staff.
Governance was a primary control, the Program Manager provided senior management with direction on responsibilities and deliverables, and assisted leadership in understanding the business decisions required to guide the project and to communicate those decisions to employees and project teams. Escalation processes, steering committee reporting, and structured communication and training development were core elements of the rollout strategy for Dollarama SAP Retail in 2007.
