In 2015, Folketrygdfondet employed SimCorp Dimension for its front office functions. The deployment extended the firm's Portfolio and Investment Management footprint by adding SimCorp Dimension front office capabilities while retaining the application across middle and back office operations.
The SimCorp Dimension front office solution implemented an integrated Investment Book of Record IBOR and real-time position keeping, delivering timely, accurate views of holdings, risk exposure and investable cash. The configuration focused on front office workflows such as order and position management, instrument onboarding and risk visibility, aligned with Portfolio and Investment Management functional practices.
Integration work concentrated on seamless data and process flows between front, middle and back office modules of SimCorp Dimension already in use at Folketrygdfondet, creating an enterprise front-to-back architecture and a unified data model to reduce system maintenance. Operational coverage targeted the full investment operations that support management of the Government Pension Fund Norway assets approximately EUR 23bn, giving front office teams direct access to the centralized IBOR for reconciliations and trading decisions.
Governance and program drivers emphasized tighter system integration, lower operating costs and reduced time-to-market for new instruments as explicit objectives of the 2015 implementation. Folketrygdfondet stated that fewer systems would reduce maintenance and improve efficiency, and SimCorp framed the commitment as a validation of its front office capabilities.
