The rollout focused on operationalizing screening for contingent hires and new employees, with HR Associates assigned day to day administration and review responsibilities within the global HR organization.
Sterling Background Check was configured to support standard screening workflows including order creation, criminal and records review, adjudication routing, and vendor reporting. FTI established explicit processing rules to review and approve background results with no criminal hits, forward results with criminal hits to the HR Manager for escalation, and report approval and denial codes back to Sterling as part of case closure and audit trails.
Integration work was centered on aligning screening workflows with the firm’s HR service stack, specifically coordinating Sterling screening operations with ADP core HR and payroll processes and with WageWorks benefits administration during onboarding. Operational processes included vendor relationship management, workflow definition with external HR vendors, and invoice reconciliation for screening services.
Governance and process ownership placed maintenance and administration of the background check process with HR Associates who also maintain HRIS integrity, manage employee records and training documentation, and serve as a payroll backup when required. The implementation emphasized procedural controls for escalation, consistent adjudication in accordance with FTI standards, and vendor reconciliation to preserve data integrity and compliance across hiring and contingent workforce lifecycle activities.
